Best Two Hotels In Atlanta

Disclaimer: I have personally stayed and reviewed these hotels on my dime. I’m happy to bring you my unbiased opinion on what I think are the best hotels. All photos are taken by us, unless noted.

My rankings are based on a five category points system. Location 10 points, value 10, service 25, guest room 25, and amenities are worth 30 for a total of 100 possible points.

Atlanta is a large hotel market but after staying at all five-star hotels and a considerable number of four-star hotels, I recognize these two properties as better than all the others. I think AAA would agree with me because these are the only AAA Five-Diamond award winners in the city.

#2 Best hotel in Atlanta is the Four Seasons.

  • Location: 8/10
  • Value: 8/10
  • Service: 24/25
  • Guest Room: 23/25
  • Amenities: 27/30
  • Total: 90/100

Location

The Four Seasons is located in midtown Atlanta, which is between downtown and Buckhead. When I’m in Atlanta, I’m usually downtown or in Buckhead so the location isn’t ideal for me. The perks of midtown are the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Piedmont Park, Winn Park, and the High Museum of Art. There are also several good restaurants in the area. 8/10

Value

The Four Seasons is expensive, as you’d expect. They never offer discounted rates and there is no way to get good value using loyalty points, since Four Seasons doesn’t offer any. They do participate in American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, which will give you a much better deal, considering you can get a late check-out, free breakfast, and a unique hotel amenity equaling $100, among a few other benefits. You will rarely see rates below $400 for a base room. 8/10

Service

Service is something the Four Seasons hangs their hat on, and it was superb while I was there. The concierge was great at obtaining last-minute reservations I didn’t think were possible and the hotel associates are some of the best I’ve experienced in Atlanta. For the price of the hotel, I would like to see butlers being used for at least the suites. It adds a personalized service that can only be had with having a butler. If they added this, it would be easy to give them a perfect score. 24/25

Guest Room

The hotel is in the process of renovating all the guest rooms. If this weren’t the case, I don’t think they would have made second best. Nevertheless, I had the chance to stay in one of these new rooms, and it was excellent. I loved the décor, in-room amenities, and, of course, Four Seasons bedding is some of the best in the industry. After they finish renovations, I am certain their guest room score will improve. 23/25

Amenities

The pool and Bar Margo are the highlights when it comes to amenities. The pool area comes in an elegant neo-classical design amidst a whirlpool, sun terrace, and locker room with sauna and steam room. Bar Margo is a place I would recommend even if you weren’t staying at the hotel. The food was good, and the music was even better. You could have as good of a time solo as you could if you were with your best friends. As for the fitness center and spa, you’d be hard pressed to find a better one in midtown. 27/30

Now for the best in Atlanta. Drum roll, please! 🥁

#1 Best hotel in Atlanta is the St. Regis

fullsizeoutput_1b04

  • Location: 9/10
  • Value: 9/10
  • Service: 25/25
  • Guest Room: 24/25
  • Amenities: 29/30
  • Total: 96/100

Location

Perfectly located in the luxury neighborhood of Buckhead, you’ll find the finest shopping and my favorite restaurants nearby. I prefer Buckhead over midtown and downtown because of the residential feel with some of the nicest homes in the city. The St. Regis has the perfect location, that’s why it’s considered the best address in Atlanta. 9/10

Value

With rates seldom below $380 it’s one of the most expensive properties in Atlanta. However, with the ability to book on SPG Starpoints and their participation in travel programs like AmEx FH&R and Virtuoso, it’s easy to offset the high room price with the help of elite perks like free breakfast, late check-out and a unique property amenity worth $100. This hotel is a category 6 SPG property so it only takes 25,000 Starpoints to book this St. Regis for free. For that fact alone, I give them a high value ranking. 9/10

Service

The signature St. Regis butler service is by far the best in Atlanta and one of the best service experiences I have ever had in a hotel. I have always felt when checking out of a hotel that service could have been better but after my stay here, there was not a single thing they could have improved upon. My personal butler, Jacob, knocked it out of the park with my requests, and several other team members remembered my name even after only a brief conversation. I have never felt more welcome at a property then I did here. 25/25

Guest Room

The St. Regis is fit for royalty. The smallest rooms are 440 sq ft, which is quite spacious for a base room but their Empire Suite comes in at an impressive 2,800 sq ft. After a little research, I’m going to assume this is the largest hotel room in Atlanta and maybe in all of Georgia. I stayed in a deluxe room and was impressed with the soft tones and luxury touches throughout the room, including an in-mirror TV, white marble bathroom, and the signature St. Regis bed. 24/25

Amenities

The hotel is full of world-class amenities including a 40,000 sq ft pool piazza, billiards room, lawn games, athletic club, Reméde spa, private transportation, and several great dining options. My favorites were the pool and the St. Regis Bar. I spent the early part of my stay at the pool piazza enjoying the heated pool and jacuzzi. At night, I spent a good part of my evening enjoying the ambience and life of the St. Regis Bar. I recommend the famous St. Regis Bloody Mary with a southern twist. As if this weren’t enough to do, I highly recommend not missing out on the champagne sabering at 6pm. It’s the perfect way to start the evening. 29/30
